When cleaning is not the answer

Drain line repairs

Some lines do not need cleaning. They need a section replaced, and no amount of cabling or jetting will change that.

A drain that keeps blocking in exactly the same place is usually telling you something structural. A crack that catches debris, a joint that has offset so one pipe edge sits proud of the next, or a belly, which is a low section that has settled and now holds standing water where solids collect instead of being carried away.

We locate the fault precisely before anyone touches a shovel, so what follows is a targeted repair to one section rather than a trench across your property. On a bellied run we will be straight with you about what a repair does and does not fix, because re-bedding a settled section properly is a different job from patching a crack.

Signs of a structural fault

  • The same spot blocks every few months
  • Cabling opens it easily but it never lasts
  • A soft or sunken strip in the lawn along the line
  • Camera shows standing water in a level run
  • Roots returning to the same joint after a cut

How we scope a repair

  • Camera the full run and record it
  • Locate depth and position and mark the ground
  • Quote the section, not the whole line, wherever possible
  • Show you the footage so the quote is checkable

Small dig, not a trench

Precise locating is the whole reason a repair can be a few feet of excavation instead of a trench down the side of the house. If someone has quoted you the trench without putting a camera down first, get a second opinion.

Questions about drain line repairs

Can a bellied pipe be fixed without replacing everything?

Usually the settled section is what needs attention, not the whole run. It has to be excavated, re-bedded on proper compacted base and re-laid, otherwise it will settle again. We will tell you the length involved before you commit.

Do you dig, or do you subcontract?

We diagnose, locate and mark the fault precisely and handle spot repairs. On a large excavation we will tell you plainly what is involved and coordinate rather than pretend it is a small job.
